No. 0 Lever Filler

This pen is from the personal collection of Ariel Zuñiga - a generous contributor on FPN, seminal Montblanc collector’s books, and now this website. Watch out for a series of reviews of truly rare pens thanks to AZ’s generosity!

In terms of size, Collectible Stars I shows examples of lever fillers in OO, O, 1, 2, 4, and 6. The size O example we have here measures a tiny 10cm. Look at it dwarfed by the 139 in this picture!

Here we have the tiny No. O size pen made of hard rubber in mottled red colour. The nib and lever design tells us it was made in c. 1925.

Montblanc made lever fillers for a very short period between 1921 to 1929, and this makes them highly collectable today. Learn more about the MB lever filler at the bottom of this article --> No. 1 Lever Filler.

The standard lever fillers were more commonly available in black, but customers also had the options of mottled red and coral red, as per Collectible Stars I. The mottled red pens command far higher value amongst collectors today, and the coral red even more.

The fact that this pen is a lever filler + size O + mottled red, makes is a truly rare specimen.
